Insurance claims
Fence claims, documented straight
Condition and damage reports an assessor can rely on, and itemised like-for-like replacement quotes. For insurance repair builders, loss adjusters, strata managers and homeowners with a claim.
Before you book a report
A report tells your insurer what happened to the fence. It cannot decide your claim, and it only records what we see.
- We record the cause we can see on the day. Nothing more, nothing less.
- Home insurance generally covers sudden events, such as a storm, an impact, a fallen tree or vandalism.
- Home insurance generally excludes wear and tear, gradual deterioration, rot and age.
- If the cause we see is age or wear, the report will say so, and your insurer may decline the claim.
- The report fee is payable whatever the insurer decides.
- We never change a cause, a date or a description to help a claim.
- Quotes stay free and itemised, whether or not you claim.
This is general information, not insurance advice. Every policy is different: check your own policy wording or ask your insurer what is covered before you book a report.
Fence condition and damage reports
$165 incl GST per reportOne written report per fence, ready to attach to the claim.
Every part rated
Posts, rails, palings, capping, plinths and gates each get a condition rating, so the assessor can see exactly what failed.
Dated photos
Each rating is backed by dated photos taken on site, tied to the part they show.
The visible cause
What we can see caused the damage: wind, a fallen tree or branch, impact, or age and rot. We report what is visible, nothing more.
A clear recommendation
What we recommend for the fence and why, in plain words an insurer or owner can act on.
Signed by a registered builder
Signed off by a registered building practitioner, CDB-U 67771.
Locked once final
When the report is issued as final it is locked, so what the insurer reads is exactly what we signed.
Written to our insurance reports policy
Every report and every claim quote follows the same three rules.
No inflating
The report and the quote show the real condition and the real cost. We never pad a claim.
No backdating
Dates on the report and the photos are the dates we were on site. We never backdate anything.
Like-for-like stays separate
Like-for-like replacement is priced on its own. Any upgrade the owner wants, such as a taller fence or a different material, is shown separately so the insurer only sees what the claim covers.
Like-for-like replacement quotes
Quotes are always free, including for insurance claims. Free on-site measure and written quote, no deposit to book, 24 hours’ notice.
Itemised like-for-like
A written quote that replaces what was there, line by line, so it lines up with the claim.
Removal and new fence on separate lines
Taking away the damaged fence and building the new one are separate lines, the way most insurers ask for them.
Each neighbour’s share shown
On a shared boundary the quote shows each owner’s share, so each insurer or owner can see their part at a glance.
Every replacement timber paling fence goes in on hardwood posts set in concrete as standard.
Fence blown down in a storm?
Our guide covers making it safe, photos for your insurer, who pays on a shared fence and the urgent fencing notice in Victoria.
Fair questions, straight answers.
Will your report help my claim?
It will show your insurer the condition we could see and the likely cause. If that cause is a sudden event such as a storm or an impact, it supports the claim. If the cause is age, rot or wear, the report says so and your insurer may decline. We cannot write storm damage when the fence failed from age, and we never change a cause, date or description to help a claim. This is general information, not insurance advice.
Do you charge for an insurance quote?
No. Quotes are always free, including for insurance claims. The on-site measure and written quote are free and no-obligation. Only a condition and damage report carries a fee, and we confirm that with you before we start.
When do I need a report rather than a quote?
When your insurer or assessor asks for evidence of the fence’s condition and the cause of damage. A quote prices the replacement; a report documents what happened to the fence.
Do you repair storm damaged fences?
We build new and replacement fences only, so we do not take repair-only jobs. If a fence is down or past fixing, we replace it like-for-like.
Do you work with strata and owners corporations?
Yes. Send us the address, who to contact for access, and the claim or job reference, and we will quote each owner’s share clearly.
