Anti-Fraud Policy

Honest quotes, honest reports, honest invoices. We will not be party to insurance fraud.

Version 1.0, last updated 8 November 2026

Our commitment

Expanse Fencing will not be party to insurance fraud or any other fraud. Our quotes, reports, invoices and photos tell the truth about the fence, the work and the cost, whoever is paying.

This policy applies to the Director, every staff member and every subcontractor working for us.

What we will never do

  • Inflate a quote, a report or an invoice, or add work that was not needed or not done.
  • Backdate a report, a photo, a quote or an invoice.
  • Describe damage with a cause we cannot see, such as calling age or rot storm damage.
  • Hide an upgrade inside a like-for-like price. Upgrades are always priced on their own lines.
  • Hide, absorb or refund an insurance excess through our price.
  • Write a second quote or invoice with different figures for the same work.
  • Offer or accept any payment, gift or favour to influence a claim, a report or an assessor.

What we always do

  • Record what we see on the day, with dated photos.
  • Lock a condition report once it is final. Any later change is a new, dated report.
  • Itemise quotes, with removal and the new fence on separate lines and each neighbour’s share shown.
  • Tell the customer up front that a report may not support their claim.

Condition reports for an insurance claim

Most customers never need this section. If you want a fence condition or damage report for an insurance claim, you agree to these terms before we inspect. We record your agreement on the report.

You agree that:

  1. The report records the condition and the cause we can see on the day of the inspection. We will not change a cause, a date or a description to help a claim.
  2. Your insurer decides your claim, not us. Home insurance generally excludes wear and tear, gradual deterioration, rot and age, so a claim may be declined or reduced.
  3. Expanse Fencing is not liable if your insurer declines, reduces or delays your claim, or for any loss that follows from that decision.
  4. The report fee is payable whatever the insurer decides.
  5. This does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. This is general information, not insurance advice.

Quotes stay free, whether or not you claim. More on insurance claims.

If someone asks us to bend the rules

We say no, we record the request on the job file, and we may decline or stop the work. If an insurer or assessor asks us to confirm a report we issued, we confirm what it says.

Raising a concern

If you think anyone working for us has broken this policy, email info@expanse.builders with the subject "Anti-fraud". The Director reviews every concern, and nobody is penalised for raising one in good faith.

Review

We review this policy every 12 months and after any concern is raised. Related policies: POL-13 Insurance Quotes and Reports, POL-01 Code of Conduct, POL-15 Customer Terms.
